Night 30

Well, it's over. I found out a lot of things about myself and my body by blogging this experience and am glad I did it. Here are the conclusions I have come to at the end of it all.

First: I learned that I rarely sleep well. I'm convinced this is mostly due to having a kid that still struggles with sleeping through the night, and even when she does I still wake to her stirring and noises because I'm used to waking up to a kid.

Second: My back pain has gotten better over the course of this experiment. The first couple weeks were a lot worse than the last couple. I haven't had back pain for a while now. That's huge.

Third: My back is still shaped funny, but not nearly as bad. My tailbone hasn't changed, the jump in my spine is the same, but the side to side curve is much better. My shoulders are much more even and like I stated before, the pain has been lessened  (if not alleviated).

Four: I don't particularly like sleeping on my back. I no longer feel comfortable on my side, it twists my back and causes pain. I think I'll continue to sleep on my back sometimes, but I am looking forward to sleeping on my stomach tonight. I'll keep track of my pain and sleep problems (not on a blog, though) just to see.

Conclusion: I think it helped. Less back pain, straighter back and shoulders, etc. It was worth it. I'm glad I did it.

Nights 26, 27, 28, 29

Tonight's the last night. Wow. The past few have gone like this:
26-tossed and turned. Mostly on my back.
27-same as 26.
28-slept great. On my back until 4am when my 2 year old woke me up. The rest of the night was cuddling with her, mostly on my back.
29-I was freezing and just couldn't get to bed on my back. Seriously considered giving up and then realized how stupid it would be to give up on something I've been trying to do the day before I'm done. Fell asleep on my back, grateful I only have 1 more night to go.
We'll have to see how it all turns out, but I'm not sure I'll end up sleeping on my back all the time (unless something miraculous happens). I bet I will more often than usual, and I have found that laying on my back is much less comfortable than it used to be. I'll probably end up switching between my stomach and my back. Tomorrow's pictures will help me decide...

Nights 20-25

Most nights I've been starting on my back and then move around a bit, but for the most part it's going well. Three nights ago, I didn't move a muscle-just slept on my back all night (I was really tired). We're down to the last few days. I'm interested looking forward to the after picture.
